Lisa and Bobby’s Travel Themed Classic and Elegant Downtown Wedding

Lisa and Bobby’s Travel Themed Classic and Elegant Downtown Wedding in Columbus Ohio was one for the books!  With their ceremony taking place at Saint Francis of Assisi, and their fun food focused reception at The Kitchen along with a stop at The Ohio State House for their first look and portraits it was a perfectly planned day with lots of personalized details, which I loved!

How Did They Meet?

Lisa and Bobby first met in Chicago just as Lisa was about to start her first semester of law school and recognizing their shared love of football these two sat across from Wigley’s field and spent their first few hours together watching a playoff game.  This was the beginning of their journey which has led them all over the place together including trips to Europe and a move to the city they now call home Washington DC.  Bobby proposed to Lisa 2 years ago at the Tidal Basin in Washington DC, which is a special spot for them since it’s next to the FDR memorial which is where Lisa took Bobby on his visit to see her in DC.

Their Wedding Day

Lisa and Bobby are sweet, fun-loving and adventurous  and this is everything I hope for when I photograph couples. I wish for classic style, happiness and honesty in my couples and this is Lisa and Bobby to a T!  We were outstandingly lucky to have a beautiful clouds in the sky that day and it was the perfect temperature for their May wedding! Their wedding day started at the Hyatt Regency with each getting ready with their respective bridal parties and close family members.  I simply loved Lisa’s unique and sentimental details which included a pearl anklet bracelet that her mom wore on her wedding day, a piece of a handkerchief that her aunt gave her at her Baptism and my favorite was a little pocket with a clover on it that had been given to her at birth, it held a penny inside that was placed in her shoe for good luck.  I also adored the cuff links that Lisa gave to Bobby with maps of both Chicago and DC, the two places these two have called home together.  Two years of planning all coming together on one day, I could tell that they each were excited to get to their first look!

After getting dressed we traveled to the State House for their first look and portraits and we even had time to stop in the Arena District for a few photos under the arches before making our way to Saint Francis of Assisi (which is by the way the most sweet and adorable church and I mean who doesn’t love a priest who stops the ceremony to take an iphone pic of the bride and groom!) . They were surrounded with laughter and fun all day and I can’t imagine a more perfect wedding day.

Guests were greeted on the steps leading up to the church featured with beautiful greenery and candles and Lisa’s father walked her down the aisle to Canon in D and as their parents, grandparents, family and friends looked on as these two became man and wife, how very sweet!  After the ceremony we took family photos and then it was time for the bride and groom to join the celebration at The Kitchen were they enjoyed an every so tasty meal (my foodie self was in heaven) before dancing their first dance to If I Ain’t Got You, by Alicia Keys and spending the night talking and dancing with the ones they love most! A perfect day!
